Virtual Casting, staying on top of the game!
Our one-hour online training sessions, with a real casting director, will consist of a real virtual casting where we will give
you practical assistance to set up a temporary home studio so that your virtual auditions look
as if they are being shot in a professional studio. Once an audition is complete,
yourxspacexcanxbexquicklyxandxeasilyxrestoredxtoxitsxoriginalxstate.
1. IDENTIFYING THE RIGHT SPACE IN YOUR HOUSE
What are the important things to look for when choosing the space that will
henceforth double-up as your ‘home studio’? Identify this room and use a few simple
techniques to temporarily and quickly convert it for the duration of your session.
2. LIGHTING “Without good lighting, the best camera in the world can’t capture a perfect
picture”X-XDavidxLynch.
The safe option is always to keep your lighting simple and flat, without shadows or
depth. Learn how to maximise your existing resources, and do cost effective ‘fill-ins’ if
thexexistingxlightingxinxyourxhomexisxnotxadequate.
3. CAMERA
Whether you’re shooting a selfie or being directed virtually, you will be in charge of
filming yourself without the help of a camera operator. Learn how to do this in a way
thatxrequiresxminimalxintrusionxonxyourxperformance.
4. DRESSINGXYOURXTEMPORARYXSET
Delivering a dynamic performance around a static camera presents unique challenges.
Create a space with strategically placed furniture and props to allow seamless
transitionsxbetweenxdifferentxscenesxandxcameraxangles.
5. CHECKLIST
Avoid common mistakes that actors often make in virtual castings which cause
unnecessary delays. Keep our Checklist handy and enter the virtual studio like a pro.
The above will be covered in a one-hour training session, in small groups of no more than 5.
